My Reason for Being

I remember it like yesterday.  All that I knew about life was from a very distorted perspective of the true biblical Christianity. There was nothing about God who loved me so much that He sent Jesus on a rescue mission for me! I have never recovered from that undeniable truth! Have you?

Before I began this journey of faith began in August, 1977, I was oblivious to the truth that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, paid the penalty for my sins so that I could be restored to a right relationship with God. “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!”

For those who were born spiritually blind, the events of history that we are about to celebrate are much more than mere historical facts.  They are our reason for being.  They are the reason we get up in the morning, they are the motivating factor for all we are and all we do.

We humans tend to make life so complicated. That is exactly how Satan wants it. He much prefers that we live not understanding the simplicity of the Gospel, and live in the confusion of the maze of human religion that is based on how good we humans are. He wants us to become enamoured with ourselves and keep the spotlight off what Jesus accomplished when He died on the cross.

The simple truth that Jesus was born of a virgin, that he lived a sinless life, and that as the Son of God he shed His blood to pay for our sins, and was raised from the dead for our to give us the sure hope of eternal life. That is what every believer has as the bedrock of his/her life.

The celebration of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are not just a once a year occurrences for believers. His love for us is why we are alive! He is our treasure, He is our reason to get up in the morning. Because of those facts, we desire to make a difference in the world because He is our all in all!

I am determined to live each day rejoicing in the new life He came to give us. I want to live thankfully for all He has done for us! But, I don’t want to restrict living for His glory only during this time of the year but every day that He gives me breath! He is my reason for being! Would you join me?

For His Glory,

Pastor Bill Finch
